Help to ‘StopCOVID’ in NI
Northern Ireland’s Health service has launched this mobile phone App to help ‘contact tracing’ of people potentially infected by the virus.
It is a major aid in the battle to control the spread and stop a return to lockdown.
How does the app work?
If you are in close contact with an app user who has added a positive COVID-19 test result to their app, this app will notify you. You won’t know who, when or where.
If you test positive for COVID-19 you can add that result to this app. This will notify other app users that you have been in close contact with.
The app will never reveal your identity or location.
Since going live the ‘StopCOVID NI’ app has had over 300,000 downloads and we at the Patient and Client Council are now urging you to download the app, and for those who already have the app to share it with family and friends.
Following a rise in positive Covid-19 cases Health Minister Robin Swann said: “The last number of weeks have shown that the virus is still here, it is still in our communities and we must all do what we can to limit its spread.”
“Our efforts against this disease are most effective when we work as a collective and the app is no different. The app works by alerting users if they have been in close contact with someone who has added a positive test result to their app, thereby helping break the chains of transmission and helping to stop the virus in its tracks.”
If you have already downloaded the app, you are already helping protect your family and friends.
Why not share the app and encourage your friends and family to do the same?
The more people using the app, the more effective it will be.
Simply open the app and click the ‘Share this App’ button.
