Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) in Primary Care

The Department of Health (NI) have provided funding for Enhanced Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs) in Primary Care which are being piloted in Down; Derry/ Londonderry; West Belfast; Causeway and Newry & District areas.

What is General Practice multidisciplinary teams?
Through your GP surgery, you have access to a variety of health care professionals which may include GPs, physiotherapists, mental health practitioners/ counsellors, dietitians, pharmacists, social workers, social work assistants, practice nurses/ advanced nurse practitioners, district nurses and health visitors, as well as practice admin staff. Recently, new roles including practice based social workers, social work assistants, mental health practitioners and physiotherapists have been added to the ‘Enhanced Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) in Primary Care’ to provide the healthcare most suited to your overall needs. Please note that not all GP practices will have all of the above-mentioned health care professionals in place. The General Practice multidisciplinary teams is an ongoing project and is yet to be fully implemented in all areas.

RSM UK Consulting LLP (RSM) have been appointed to evaluate the MDTs and as part of this they are undertaking a survey of service users to capture views on their experiences with the MDT team. They have developed the attached survey and wish to get further feedback from a patient perspective and would like you to review the attached and provide feedback on the overall readability of the survey and in particular:

• If the questions are easy to understand
• If it is difficult to complete
• If anything requires further clarification or guidance
• If there is anything missing or to be added

You do not have to be living in an MDT area to comment, as the team are not looking for ‘answers’ however would like you to review on the premise that you have been accessing this new service and the survey is designed to capture feedback on your experience of this.

If you would be happy to support this please register below by 12pm and we will arrange for this a call / Zoom to take place with RSM.
